What's Your Back-to-School Style?

ALTERNA CHICK
You're an alterna chick. Fashion isn't exactly your favorite topic, but you know one thing: You hate looking like everyone else. That's why you love dying your hair every two months. You shop at Goodwill, the Salvation Army and vintage stores so that you'll never be sitting next to someone in English class who's wearing the same shirt. Some people might think you don't care much appearance, but that's not true. You just don't care what they think about how you look. If you're going to branch out this school year, pick up a cropped blazer. It will go perfect over all those vintage tees you have and make you look like a little bit more mature than last year -- which you are.

Kid 'n' Pam Tie the Knot

Here's the story from VH1...

Kid Rock And Pamela Anderson Marry In 'Real Rock And Roll Wedding'

One down, three more to go.

Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock tied the knot Saturday night on a luxury yacht in Saint-Tropez, France, with close friends including Elton John's partner David Furnish and celebrity photographer David LaChapelle on board. The couple has said they plan at least three more weddings: in Malibu, California; Nashville; and Kid Rock's hometown of Detroit.

"Now I'm definitely rocking the most ... MRS ROCK," the "Baywatch" babe wrote on her Web site Sunday. "The best romantic wedding of all time. Rock n roll wedding."

"She was the most beautiful bride I've ever seen — like a modern-day Brigitte Bardot," Jimmy Choo owner Tamara Mellon told People about Anderson, while Furnish described Rock as a "total rock star. He gave her a good kiss. Everybody was crying."

To get the party started, the bride wore a hot pink bikini and mini shorts as she boarded the boat, while the groom sported a red baseball cap. The affair then went below deck, and Anderson changed into the low-cut white lace couture dress made especially for her by Heatherette designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains, who are known for dressing Paris Hilton and Courtney Love. Anderson also donned a Swarovski crystal-encrusted tiara and a white veil, along with diamond studded Jimmy Choo shoes and carried a bouquet of white flowers. Rock wore a white V-neck T-shirt with a black Detroit Tigers baseball cap.

It wasn't long before the newlyweds slipped into something a little more comfortable. The new Mrs. Rock sported a slinky white bikini (like the swimsuit she wore at her 1995 wedding to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in Cancun, Mexico) and a sailor cap. The Detroit rap-rocker tore off his shirt and toasted his new life while puffing a cigar and sipping a beer, wearing only a chain around his neck, a black fedora and blue jeans with a belt with a U.S.A. crystal buckle. Both headed to the afterparty, held at a nearby club in Saint-Tropez.

"[The ceremony] was really laid-back and everyone was super-casual, wearing jeans and sneakers," a source in Saint-Tropez told MTV News. "They were playing music and dancing on the boat. They went out partying and having a good time."

Plenty of photographers and locals tried to get a glimpse of the Rocks. "I can't wait to get away from these paparazzi," Pam wrote on her Web site. "I swear they just wait for the ugliest pictures to take."

It's the second marriage for the 39-year-old "Stacked" star, who divorced Lee in 1998. They have two sons, Brandon, 10, and Dylan, 8. The wedding is a first for Rock, 35, (real name: Robert Richie) who has a 13-year-old son, Robert Jr., from a previous relationship.

The couple began dating in 2001 after Anderson broke off an engagement with model Marcus Schenkenberg. Rock and Anderson were engaged in April 2002 in Las Vegas, but split the following year. Since then, they've had an on-again, off-again relationship and recently reunited in Saint-Tropez. British Columbia, Canada-born Anderson — who was discovered while attending a B.C. Lions football game when her picture was broadcast on the stadium's big screen — revealed in her online diary that she was "in love" and planning to marry again.

"I'm happy," she wrote. "I see the light. Sounds dramatic, but it's true." The couple announced their re-engagement on July 18 (see "Pamela Anderson, Kid Rock Get Engaged — Again").

Kid Rock instructed his fans to purchase their gifts at one of his favorite chain stores. "Yes, I'm marrying the girl of my dreams," he wrote on his Web site. "We are registered at Wal-Mart. Thanks for the support!"

Lance Bass of `N Sync reveals he's gay {first the guy from Savage Garden & now Lance}

Lance Bass, band member of 'N Sync, says he's gay and in a "very stable" relationship with a reality show star. Bass, who formed 'N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, tells People magazine that he didn't earlier disclose his sexuality because he didn't want to affect the group's popularity.

"I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," he tells the magazine.
'N Sync is known for a string of hits including "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me." The band went on hiatus in 2002. Bass has also found headlines for undertaking astronaut training and failing to raise money for a trip into space.
Bass says he wondered if his coming out could prompt "the end of 'N Sync." He explains, "So I had that weight on me of like, `Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it's bad.' So I just never did."
The singer says he's in a "very stable" relationship with 32-year-old actor Reichen Lehmkuhl, winner of season four of CBS' "Amazing Race."
Bass and Fatone, 29, are developing a sitcom pilot inspired by the screwball comedy "The Odd Couple," in which his character will be gay.
"The thing is, I'm not ashamed — that's the one thing I went to say," Bass says. "I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."

And what has this list taught us? I have way too many Juanes songs in my media player.

That's So Slutty

My friend Wes' friend Jane came up w/ someting really clever last night. You know how in society today ppl might say "that's Gay" or "that's Retarted" when they want to express a negative feeling about something they don't like. But that isn't right- gay and retarded ppl shouldn't be associated with negative feelings. That's just the way they are.

Instead say someting is slutty. Slutty ppl chose to be slutty. Try to spread this. In 3-5 years hopefully it will catch on.

Shuffle List

I Won't Tell You Where I Got This From But I'm Lovin It (kind of a clue there). By the way these are not my answers, they're a certain somebody else's; mine will follow in a near future post.

Current mood: cranky

Justin Timberlake declared he wants to change pop music with his new CD. The first taste? 'SexyBack,' which he describes as David Bowie and David Byrne doing a cover of James Brown's 'Sex Machine.' Slam dunk, right? Then why is the single the most hotly-debated three minutes of music this year?

^o^ Oh Boy ^o^

More proof that celebs are human.

===============================

Along with changing his sound with his new song, 'SexyBack,' Mr. Timberlake is also changing the public's perception of him as a do-gooder.

The former boy band member says he does his share of drugs, drinking and living the rock star life, but he doesn't do it when the paparazzi are around.

'I get completely plastered. I've done my fair share of drugs, and I've been caught places with my pants down,' Timberlake said.

Timberlake's relationship with actress Cameron Diaz is still going strong, despite recent rumors that the two had split up.

Timberlake's confessions of a wild side could help him separate himself from his *NSYNC past.

Do you think Justin's telling the truth?
Yes, I'm sure he's done drugs 64%
No, he's trying to look tough 36%
-------------------------------------------
Can admitting drug use help his career?
No, people look down on drugs 58%
Yes, it lends rock star cred 42%

===================================

The 25-year-old pop star said to Britain's Observer Music Monthly, "I'm just like everyone else. I get completely plastered. I've done my fair share of drugs, and I've been caught places with my pants down. It's just I make sure there are no cameras around."

While he dated childhood sweetheart Britney Spears when she was the world's most famously avowed virgin, he hints that his past wasn't as pristine as his former image suggested. He even joked that he could never run for office.

"I've done way too many drugs already," he said to the magazine. "I've already inhaled, and I've already. … Who knows. I don't know if I want that responsibility."

Timberlake has been playing shows in Europe to promote the September release of his new album, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," his first since the chart-topping success four years ago of his solo debut "Justified," which sold more than 7 million copies.

===============================

Inspired by Brown's 'Sex Machine'

At a Paris news conference two weeks ago, Timberlake described "SexyBack" as a turning point in his career.

"The best way I can describe that song is, say David Bowie and David Byrne decided to do a cover of James Brown 's 'Sex Machine,'" he said to reporters.

"I think it's important on your sophomore album to broaden your sound, to try something new," Timberlake said. "Because if you do the same thing, then your third album has to be the same thing, and your fourth album has to be the same thing and you don't grow."

Cameron Diaz, the singer's 33-year-old girlfriend, has joined him on his European trip, and while Timberlake hasn't talked about his actress companion, he is eager to talk about his acting career.

In the months to come, he'll appear in "Alpha Dog," directed by Nick Cassavetes; "Black Snake Moan" with Christina Ricci; and Richard Kelly's "Southland Tales," which competed for the prestigious Palme d'Or award at the Cannes film festival.

Timberlake's willingness to play the bad boy shouldn't come as a complete surprise.

He was Janet Jackson 's dance partner during the infamous "wardrobe malfunction" at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show -- an incident that he has called an accident.

In the Observer interview, Timberlake speaks of how he has been careful of his public image.

He compares himself with Spears and Christina Aguilera , two of the performers he worked with as a child on Disney's "The All-New Mickey Mouse Club."

"I feel bad for her," Timberlake said of Spears and her ongoing confrontations with paparazzi. "We all make mistakes. We all came from the same school, with Christina, myself, Britney."

"Even when Christina came out with her last record, everyone was so shocked -- 'She's so sexual' -- it's like, she's a grown woman!"

Justin Timberlake's drugs confession
BANG Showbiz
Jul. 17, 2006 09:46 AM
Justin Timberlake has confessed to taking "too many drugs."

The 'Rock Your Body' singer revealed he has managed to keep his squeaky-clean image in tact because he only gets high in private.

He said: "I've done way too many drugs. I'm just like everyone else, I get completely plastered. I've done my fair share of drugs and I've been caught with my pants down. I just try and make sure there are no cameras around.

"I don't show up drunk to functions and the drugs I do have been in my own private time."

While the singer, who is dating 'Charlie's Angels' actress Cameron Diaz, admitted to his own private vices he insisted he did so in moderation and warned against over indulgence.

He added in an interview with Britain's Observer Music Monthly magazine: "They say too much of a good thing is a bad thing. I try to live my life in a well-rounded manner. But we all make mistakes. I've done too many drugs already."

Justin - who releases his new album 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' in September - also pontificated on why some drugs are legal and others not.

He said: "Some drugs haven't been legalized because it would ruin the other drugs like smoking. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin."

===================================

Okay this totally sounds a bit odd to me. I know Timberlake admitted to doing drugs before, but something in the articles is a little off. It's a well-known fact that drugs aren't that big of a deal in the Hollywood crowd, and doing them doesn't usually get you banned from the A-list. It's just a way of life people not in 'the biz' don't get and maybe never will. I still ♥ Justin anyhow.

Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro to Split
Mon Jul 17, 7:05 PM ET

Til Death Do Us Part not quite. Actress Carmen Electra and musician Dave Navarro are "amicably separating," Electra's publicist, Brit Reece, said Monday.

Reece would not elaborate on the reasons behind the split.

Former "Baywatch" star Electra and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Navarro documented their 2003 wedding on MTV's "`Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave."

The sexy pair met on a blind date, and "it was love at first sight," Electra told The Associated Press during an interview in 2004.

Navarro currently co-hosts the CBS talent competition "Rock Star."

A Series of Unfortunate Events...

Pigeons simultaneously flew in my direction, that creepy sweeper man hit on me once again, I nearly got hit by a car, and I got stuck in the elevator for 10 minutes. All this excitement, and it wasn't even 11 o'clock (AM) yet.

Exhausted

I Always Wanted to Be a Jockey

So maybe it's not the best way to meet a summer sweetie, but a dedicated gamer like you certainly knows how to beat the heat — hiding out in the great indoors, AC cranked. And it's about time you landed a plasma-screen gig — finally getting props for your dedication to couch conditioning and screen monitoring.

Let adrenaline junkies work their pecs, you've got the quickest reflexes this side of the Mississippi — and that's all the qualification you need when reporting to the keeper of high scores. So grab your joystick, chips-n-dip, and well-worn sofa seat — game on!

My Smile is Demure Like Charlize (which is cool cause she's a Leo too and has a great sense of style)

Even when she won the Oscar, we never thought for a moment that stunning Charlize would let it go to her head. Her angelic and appealing smile tells the world that she's a down-to-earth girl who knows what's important and cherishes those close to her. Like humble Charlize, you tend to take a tight-lipped approach to life and feel there's a time and a place to let out your more powerful emotions.

You're a strong-willed straight shooter, making you the perfect person to go to when people need a straight answer or solid advice. And when you're ready to let your hair down, your subtle ways will take the lead. Come hither? Your sweet smile makes sure they always do.

50's Fresh

Rhinestone glasses, a-line skirts, adorable sweater sets. There's just something so classy and feminine about '50s fashion. It's no wonder a poised, charming girl like you shares something with this era.

Sleek and chic, you care about your appearance and are probably known for being polished and put together. While your tastes might run on the refined side, you know how to give even the most basic outfit a girly touch whether you're sporting a faux fur collar jacket or cuffing a pair of dark denim jeans. Whatever the occasion, your clean, cute look always makes you one cool cat.

Keep your wardrobe looking fresh every day of the year.

I'm Preppy and Classic! What are You?

Just because you're preppy doesn't mean pinks and greens are your favorites (though they just might be!). But your style does tell the world that you don't have to mess with fleeting fads and fly-by-night fashion. You usually go for what's classy, and you know that means you'll always look stylish no matter what's the trend of the day.

You're the type of girl who's a true blue, and we bet you're the one friends go to when they need a good word of advice or a shoulder to cry on. And your style says the same thing — you're not about to follow the herd, you know just where you're headed. That never goes out of style. Now that's chic!

I Focus on Personal Time! Yay!

Everyone needs a break — even from things they're great at. Don't get us wrong, it's great that you know how to spend time and energy on yourself. In fact, you're better than most at finding time to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Whether it's a massage at the spa, a hike in the hills, or a quiet night with a good novel, you give yourself plenty of time to detox from stress. And you're not afraid to be a little indulgent if you need to — after all, you've earned it.

Just make sure you're not neglecting other areas of your life, too. Enjoying that time alone is all the more special when you shake things up now and then. Why not invite a few co-workers or friends over for dinner? Take some exercise classes to meet new people? You might be surprised at how much more enjoyable your you-time becomes. Now that's treating yourself right.

(Somehow) Skate Punk = My Crush ? (Huh)

So maybe he's no Tony Hawk. It's more about a rebellious attitude than actual skateboarding ability. What's most important for your fall crush is that he's a cool character with an alluring edge about him.

An original and hip gal like you should be with someone who's equally interesting and enticing. Someone who welcomes challenges and isn't afraid to try something new. Whether you're checking out an art gallery, going to a movie, or just hanging out, you'll be dancing to your own beat — together. It takes two to tango, you know. Better find your partner!

When you're comfortable, it's easy to be yourself.

Apparently My Song is Another One Bites the Dust

Chola?

So Fergie mentioned it in an interview and I wanted to find more info on what a chola was, so here's what I found on Wikipedia.

In the United States and Mexico, Cholo is a fairly offensive term implying a typically Mexican mestizo gangster. A cholo is stereotypically depicted as wearing baggy chinos (khaki pants) or khaki shorts with white knee-high socks, so-called wifebeater sleeveless t-shirts, flannel shirts buttoned all the way to the top or unbuttoned except for the top button, and a shaved head or slicked-back hair. A popular "cholo" brand is Dickies. This same designation may also be associated with black ink tattoos, commonly involving gang calligraphy, or family names and art. A cholo might also stereotypically own a lowrider, like music like Zapp and Roger's "More Bounce To The Ounce" and "Doo Wa Ditty", and use the Chicano term of "Ese" (which in Spanish means "that one" or "that guy"), in a way to call someone dude, like "What's up ese?" or "Órale ese!". Another term with essentially the same meaning is "Vato" and can be used in the same way. Chicanos are said to be the first in starting the lowrider trend, as well as being the oldest established gangs of California.

It is this particular image that Cheech Marin drew on in the Cheech and Chong films. There is also a reference to "the cholo" in Assault on Precinct 13. In the 2004 film Napoleon Dynamite, Nano and Arturo De Silva play characters simply referred to as "Cholo No. 1" and "Cholo No. 2".The usage was more prevalent in the 1970s and 1980s than today, though the usage was still fairly widespread in some areas in the 1990s.

In South Texas, cholos are sometimes referred to as chongers.

In North America or the English-speaking world of the United States, the word is most primarily and heavily used in Caló slang, but it in turn has infiltrated into mainstream American English use. Most specifically, the term "cholo" when used in American English is likely to be done so by persons associated with American youth movements such as the Chicano/Mexican-American/white & black lowrider subcultures, African-American gangsters of the Western United States, or the hip hop scene in general.

Make Way for The Dutchess

Black Eyed Peas' Fergie Gets Rough And Regal In First Video From Solo LP

by Jennifer Vineyard, with additional reporting by Simi Nahil and Corey Moss

Fergie doesn't want to be known as just a chick Pea anymore. So like her labelmate (and former tourmate) Gwen Stefani, she's making herself the main dish by going solo.

But Fergie's keeping the guys close by -- her new video for "London Bride," the first single from her LP, The Duchess (due September 19), puts the singer front and center, but there's still room for a few cameos from her Black Eyed Peas bandmates.

"We're doing this androgynous-type thing," Fergie said, "where [me and my girls] go into a gentlemen's club and pull them into a bathroom and come back out in their clothes. They're going to be dressed up really dapper and looking really handsome."

Fergie said she also collaborated with her Peas pal Will.I.Am on the clip's concept to make it more distinctive than another-female-solo-singer-does-a-dance-routine. "I didn't want it to be, 'OK, here I am now with my whole dancing posse,' " Fergie said. "We wanted to make it more of a tough feel, just like the song is," in which she sings "I'm such a lady, but I'm dancing like a ho."

"This song is kind of like a punch in the face to let people know I'm coming out," Fergie said. For the video, she brought in backup dancers who double as bodyguards, dressed like cholas — tough Mexican girls known for wearing dark lipstick and big hair — to make the clip "have a bit more edge, be very distinct, be very mixed." Fergie swears she used to want to be a chola growing up. "I used to do my hair and clothes in exactly the same way," she said.

"It really brings me back. People have never seen me in the Black Eyed Peas videos going to clubs and hanging out with my girls, and that's a big part of me," she continued. "I love to go to clubs, hang out, get buck wild, get into fashion. I probably need more girl energy in my life, because I'm around boys all the time."

Fergie designed one of her outfits for the video from her family's crest and tartan — she is partially of Scottish descent — "but not exactly, though. We want it to be modernized." She also wears a tiara cocked to the side of her head to play off the royal name of her album, as well as the similarity between her real name (Stacy Ferguson) and that of the Duchess of York (Sarah Ferguson). "It was just a funny play on words," Fergie said.

To keep the joke going, Fergie shot the "London Bridge" video — where else? — in London, at the Woolwich army barracks and on a boat on the Thames. "We got to use the whole cheeky London-type thing, playing with the British guards," she said of the two-day mid-June shoot with director Marc Webb. "But at the same time, we were playing with the '60s London feel, with the Brigitte Bardot bouffant hair, and mixing that up with the chola style. It's kind of a weird fusion, and it somehow just all works together."

"London Bridge" is just a taste of more "weird fusion" to come, she promised. The song, which was co-written by Sean Garrett and produced by Polow Da Don (Ludacris, Pussycat Dolls), is a club track that only lightly touches on personal lyrics about fame and celebrity ("It's like every time I get up on the dude/ Paparazzi put my business in the news").

"I'm not the 'woe is me' artist, but it's tongue in cheek," Fergie said, "because I do love to laugh at myself. I'm not this serious person who's that sensitive, that you can never say anything about. I mean, I get it. I get the whole aspect of the business, so we kind of play with that a little bit in the video, but I didn't want the whole song to be about that, because it's boring."

The rest of the album, she insisted, is much more revealing, as she opens up about "just everything I've gone through in my life, everything that I've been influenced by."

Fergie has spoken openly in the past about dabbling with gang members as a teenager, as well as her recovery from an addiction to crystal meth that led to weight loss and paranoia.

"[She's] writing about her personal struggles and casting her demons away and feminine power," Will.I.Am said. "[It's] her singing for young girls to be strong, and what they're going through in life, just growing up in this world of uncertainty.

"I know females, and I know you all are going to like this."

Black Eyed Peas' Fergie Drops the 'Bridge'

Last time, it was all about her humps. But on Fergie's 'London Bridge,' her goal is to move yours.

London Bridge

A wall of sirens and a bass-heavy hip-hop break announce the arrival of Ferg's first single, taken from her anticipated full-length debut solo album 'The Dutchess,' set to drop on Sept. 19. Produced by Polow the Don, the track doesn't stray far from the Black Eyed Peas-patented formula of spiking catchy pop hooks with street-smart attitude. And with lyrics like "All my girls get down on the floor/...I'm such a lady but I'm dancing like a (ho!)" it's obvious Fergie's not out to change her party-girl image one bit.

Hey, if it ain't broke . . .

I Am Not My Hair

I first saw India Arie perform this song on Jay Leno one night - then I saw the music video - great performance, great video, great song!

well if i wanna shave it closer or if i wanna rock the locks
that wont take a bit away from this soul that i got
little girl with the press and perm
age 8 i got a jerry curl
13 then i got a relaxer
i was the source of so much laughter
15 when it all broke down
18 when i went all natural
february 2002 i went out and did what i had to do
because it was time to change my life
to become the woman that i am inside
97 dreadlocks all gone
i looked in the mirror for the first time and saw that
hey i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am not your expectations
i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am the soul that lives within
good hair means curls and waves
bad hair means you look like a slave
at the turn of the century
it's time for us to redefine who we be
chillin out like a south african beauty
gotta own lock like bob marley
you can rock a straight like oprah winfrey
if its not whats on your head its whats underneath then say
hey i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am not your expectations
i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am the soul that lives within
is the way i wear my hair make me a better person
is the way i wear my hair make me a better friend
is the way i wear my hair determine my integrity
expressing my creativity
breast cancer and chemotherapy
took away her crowning glory
she promised god if she was to survive
she would enjoy every day of her life
on national television
her diamond eyes are sparkling
bowed head like a full moon shining
singing out to the whole wide world
hey i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am not your expectations
i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am the soul that lives within
hey i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am not your expectations
i am not my hair, i am not this skin i am the soul that lives within
well if i wanna shave it closer or if i wanna rock the locks
that wont take a bit away from this soul that i got
if i wanna wear it braided or down my back
i dont see nothing wrong with that
