~Battle of the Videos~
The same week sexy Justin Timberlake debuted his new video for his hit single SexyBack on MTV, Janet Jackson (Timberlake's costar in the Superbowl "Wardrobe Malfunction" scandal of '04) debuted her new video for her single Call on Me featuring Grammy winner Nelly. While critics are taken with JT's new video and song, crowning him the New King of Pop which Timberlake coyly shies away from, they're wondering what happened with Jackson's new video. Set in a sea/sky dreamworld, Call on Me doesn't have anything going for it besides an eyecatching wardrobe and some funky makeup. The only saving grace are Nelly's abs which are put to good use even if the rest of the video leaves you disheartened. SexyBack is sleek and cool with its flashy style and übersexiness as its title suggests. Its James Bond-esque qualities (the hot girl, the love scene, and of course the explosion at the end where our hero, Mr. JT, swiftly jumps to safety a split second before his hotel room goes up in smoke) make the video stand out from the rest of the pack, leaving critics saying, "It Doesn't Really Matter Janet, or does it?"
